Marriott International’s first luxury boutique beachfront resort on the Indonesian island of Lombok is about to open its doors.
The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, which sits between Mount Rinjani and the idyllic Gili Islands, will welcome its first guests on 1 November 2024.
The luxurious resort has 60 rooms, all with ocean views, with design cues coming from the Indigenous culture which can be seen throughout the suites and villas in the hand-hewn pottery, Indigenous artworks, wood carvings and woven textures that feature throughout.
One- and two-bedroom Lombok Villas have private pools, an outdoor gazebo, buggy and butler service, while guests in the one-bedroom Beach Front Villas have direct beach access and sunset views.
The two-bedroom Sira Beach House is perfect for families thanks to the full kitchen, two separate living spaces and a butler service.
While the pièce de résistance is the two-bedroom Sira Penthouse, which sits on the resort’s top floor and has a private infinity pool and two rooftop gazebos.
Out and about
Days can be sent exploring the nearby Gili Islands with their cerulean waters which are perfect for snorkelling, or for those who like a challenge, hike Mount Rinjani volcano (although if you want to reach the summit, you’ll need to allocate a few days).
The Tiu Teja Waterfall and Sukarara Weaving Village are also nearby, and golf lovers can practice their swing at the Sire Beach Golf Club.
Afterwards, return for a massage or wellness treatment at the resort’s luxury spa, or take a dip in the 70-metre outdoor pool.
And when it comes time to dine, there are four eateries to choose from.
The Island’s Table is an all-day restaurant; Sija, beside the two-level pool focuses on Asian cuisine; Medsa is all about Mediterranean, while Glassary is a luxurious library bar where you can relax with a Lombok cocktail.
