Doggone it – Melbourne might just be in the running for Australia’s most dog-friendly stays with not one but two hotels recently offering pawsitive and welcoming initiatives to entice dog lovers to sit, stay and sleep.
Australians love their pets, and these Melbourne hotels have heeded the call, unleashing dog-friendly stays with canine ambassadors on hand.
QT Melbourne has added its first-ever Wellbeing Dog-cierge, Russell, an adorable 20-month-old Blonde Labrador Retriever who is ready to bring joy, comfort and companionship to hotel guests.
This Golden good boy is named for his new home address, 133 Russell Street, and starts his QT Melbourne role in partnership with Guide Dogs Victoria.

While Russell was trained to assist individuals with low vision or blindness, his affection and playful demeanour has made him a natural fit as a wellbeing pup.
He’ll be available to greet guests, lead morning walks and spread wellbeing with his sunny presence.

QT Melbourne also offers pup-friendly experiences, such as puppy yoga, puppaccinos and VIP staycations for furry friends and their humans, with proceeds raised going to Guide Dogs Victoria.
Meanwhile, Park Hyatt Melbourne welcomes new resident canine Charlie, succeeding Mr Walker, its beloved doggie ambassador who recently retired after seven years of greeting hotel guests.

The 6.5-year-old Blonde Lab, whose full name is Crescendo Charlie, has a big dog bowl to fill, carrying on Mr Walker’s legacy.
A cherished member of General Manager Oliver Kahf, Charlie comes from San Francisco and has a distinguished lineage, graduating from ‘Good Citizen’ training in California.

Unlike Mr Walker, Charlie does not have a set visitation time – he will focus on guest engagement and companionship, bringing his playful, affectionate energy to the hotel.
Spot him exploring the hotel, greeting visitors or even striking a pose for the perfect social media moment, making the hotel a welcoming and warm environment for all.
But Melbourne can’t rest on its haunches; other dog-friendly stays and digs include Ovolo Hotels and the new Kimpton Margot Sydney, for starters.
