Minor expands China presence with new hotel in holiday beach hotspot

Minor Hotels is expanding its presence in China, announcing it'll open its fifth Anantara property, this time in the tourist hotspot of Sanya.

Minor Hotels is expanding its presence in China, announcing it’ll open its fifth Anantara property, this time in the tourist hotspot of Sanya.

Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort is slated to open in October 2027, a joint venture between Funyard Minor and Chongqing Yuanchu Luquan Cultural Tourism Group.

The 90-room hotel will be in Clear Water Bay, a 12-kilometre stretch of sandy beach known as one of the world’s three ‘Singing Beaches’.

The hotel is a 35-kilometre drive from Sanya’s city centre, where guests can immerse in the region’s local culture through handicrafts, fabric and bamboo weaving, music, and festivals.

The hotel will include the signature Anantara Spa, a wellness centre, outdoor swimming pool and entertainment centre.

Minor Hotels has two Anantara properties in China: Guiyang and Xishuangbanna, and two others yet to open.

Anantara Xiling Snow Mountain Chengdu Resort is slated to open this year, while Anantara Thousand Island Lake Resort will open in 2027.

The new hotel announcement is part of Minor Hotels’ China expansion plans to grow to 15 properties within the next three years.
