The Peninsula New York unveils extensive refurbishment

The Peninsula New York on Fifth Avenue has completed an extensive interior design refurbishment of its 219 guest rooms and suites, public spaces, and debut of its new-look rooftop bar.

The Peninsula New York on Fifth Avenue has completed an extensive interior design refurbishment of its 219 guest rooms and suites, public spaces, and debut of its new-look rooftop bar.

The property-wide refurbishment began in January 2024 and included the hotel’s lobby, reception, Palm Court, and the reimagined rooftop lounge, Pen Top.

The Peninsula New York, which opened in 1904,  drew inspiration for its refurbishment from Manhattan’s roaring 1920s era.

“This refurbishment marks a new era for The Peninsula New York, solidifying our stance as the pinnacle of luxury in Manhattan,” said Samir Ibrahim, Managing Director of The Peninsula New York.

“Harmoniously blending contemporary design and distinguished elegance, we are committed to providing the exceptional service that defines The Peninsula brand – and we look forward to welcoming guests to this reimagined New York luxury experience.”

The reception space and concierge desk have been redesigned with bespoke interiors of fresher, lighter finishes, accented with rich wood paneling; while the Palm Court, the hotel’s central atrium, features a newly commissioned triptych by contemporary artist Ricardo Mazal.

The Peninsula New York’s refreshed 219 guest rooms and suites have been designed to reflect the essence of a private Manhattan apartment – featuring an elegant light colour palette with contemporary furnishings and lighting.

The Peninsula New York features three Signature Suites, including the Fifth Avenue Suite, The Peninsula Suite, and the newly renovated Grand Suite – all overlooking Fifth Avenue with cityscape and Central Park views.

For dining options, The new Pen Top (formerly Salon de Ning) rooftop bar is set against the city’s iconic skyline. A new operable, louvered roof allows for indoor and outdoor year-round dining.

Located  just off the hotel lobby is Gotham Lounge, making its grand return as an intimately appointed piano bar, adorned with artworks from local artists.

In addition to the reimagined Pen Top and Gotham Lounge, guests can also dine at Clement, a classic midtown spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Clement, and its adjoining bar, features fresh new dishes by Executive Chef Malte Kontor, and is also renowned for its Fifth Avenue Weekend Brunch.

As revealed earlier this year by New York City Tourism + Conventions, in 2024 the city was expecting 64.8 million visitors of which 13.3 million will be from overseas, setting the record for international visitation in the US.
