Known for its beachy vibe, wineries, markets and coastal villages, Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula is now adding new wellness escapes to its illustrious list of tourism offerings.
This month, the award-winning Peninsula Hot Springs, around 90 minutes from Melbourne, opened a trio of rest-inspired Eco Lodges, each with its own hot spring and outdoor mineral baths.
The lodges overlook a private lake and are nestled in the bushland with nature-inspired architecture and works by local Mornington Peninsula artists.
With sleep wellness at its core, each lodge has sound and movement experiences, sleep masks and mineral salts.
Peninsula Hot Springs Co-Founder and Creative Director, Charles Davidson says the Eco Lodges were “the natural next step in the business’ approach to inspire healthy, well-balanced lifestyles”.
“Wellness is a holistic and multidimensional feeling of wholeness and happiness, of which sleep is a quintessential factor.
“Understanding that humans spend a third of their lives asleep, it was important to us to create an environment in which guests can achieve cathartic release through our extensive wellness programs.
“Our Eco Lodges have been designed with our seven pillars of wellness in mind to ensure our guests leave feeling rejuvenated and restored.”
A sanctuary at the springs
A few minutes north of Peninsula Hot Springs, two-year-old Alba Thermal Springs is set to open five standalone villas and two studio rooms in June 2025.
Each will be surrounded by native bushland with sweeping views across the peninsula.
Inside, they’ll have a log fireplace, ensuite bathroom (some with stone bath), yoga mat and self-guided meditation classes.
Guests will also be able to take advantage of ‘The Ridge’, a new bathing enclave with three new geothermal pools.
Alba Thermal Springs & Spa General Manager, Craig Dodd says, “An on-site accommodation offering has been part of the development plan for Alba Thermal Springs and Spa from the very beginning”.
“With the success of our bathing, spa, and dining experiences, we are thrilled to welcome guests overnight and for weekend stays, especially from interstate and overseas visitors who may wish to explore the region for a number of days.”
“We’ve created a sanctuary where our guests can truly indulge in our peaceful surroundings, soaking up the restorative powers of the geothermal springs or unwinding with a massage as they restore balance in their busy lives.”
