The recently reopened Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney Town Hall has had a complete overhaul, and with an enviable location and sprawling spaces to work, lounge and play, it proves the perfect place for a bleisure getaway.

When you’re a frequent traveller, nothing compares to staying in a new or newly renovated hotel where the faint smell of freshly laid carpet hangs in the air; plush chairs and sofas look like they’ve just been plucked from a showroom moments before, and you bed down knowing only a few, if any, have slept there before you.

Just walk through the door and it’s clear that this apartment-style hotel is walking the talk when it says “no area left untouched” in its multi-million-dollar refurb. The interior is a modern, sparkling space that sets the tone for what’s to come.

Checking in

If you’re catching the train from the airport, it’s mere minutes to TFE’s Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney Town Hall on Kent Street in the central city.

Enter and you’ll be welcomed by a friendly team and given your key to your sprawling apartment. When you want to head out, a breakout area with views to the main street means no standing out in the elements waiting for your ride.

The rooms

If I were to live in an apartment, this would be it. Open the door to a spacious lounge area with a large circular rug in the jungle green hues that you’ll see everywhere. There’s a marble coffee table, dining table for four, three-seater couch and full kitchen.

The pièce de résistance has to be the sliding doors that lead to a balcony with views of Darling Harbour on one side, and skyscrapers towering the 19th-century, heritage-listed Town Hall on the other.

Down a short hallway is the bedroom with its cloud-like bed, wardrobe and a low built-in stand to put your suitcase on, and another sliding door to the balcony.

The bathroom has a ‘rainfall’ shower head and a separate laundry cupboard with a washing machine and dryer – perfect for packing light and washing those work clothes on the go.

Food and drink

Love cooking? There is a full kitchen if you want to stay in and whip up a meal, but if you want to go out, multiple restaurants are literally on the doorstep.

Adjacent to Town Hall Station, you’re within walking distance to the Queen Victoria Building, Pitt Street Mall, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and Barangaroo.

And watch this space – a café with entry from the lobby is coming soon.

Things to do

If you are here for work, it’s only a 10-minute walk to Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC), and afterwards, head over to the nearby Capitol Theatre to catch a Broadway show.

For the active, the ninth floor has a fully equipped gym and sparkling semi-undercover pool streaming with natural light.

Or, just sit on our balcony with a beverage of your choice and watch as the sky bruises and the city turns to a mass of twinkling lights.
