Since its inaugural flight from Sydney to Los Angeles back in December 2015, American Airlines has been committed to ferrying Australian travellers across the Pacific in absolute comfort and style.
And it’s a commitment that hasn’t waned, with the airline recently injecting US$3 billion into upgrading its cabins and airport facilities, offering more in-flight entertainment options, redesigning its menus, and refreshing its Admirals Club lounges worldwide – all in an effort to give Australian travellers the best flying experience on its daily SYD-LAX service.
American Airlines has also kept its ears opened and listened to what its customers want, tweaking its service onboard its 777-300ER accordingly.
Here’s just a snapshot of what you’ll experience flying with American Airlines between Sydney and L.A.
Incredible meals made from the freshest ingredients
American Airlines has completely redesigned its menus on its daily SYD-LAX service to centre around three key themes: choice, customisation and quality ingredients.
Meaning: you’ll never go hungry flying across the Pacific, and you’ll absolutely love what’s served to you – no matter what cabin class you fly in.
The culmination of extensive customer research by the Menu Planning team – with significant input by joint partners, Qantas, and their design chefs – the new menus served onboard the 777-300ER reflect the sophistication of the Australian food scene and have been positively received by Australian travellers.
For example, guests in First Class are served native Australian ingredients including Tasmanian Salmon, New South Wales Riverine Beef, Quandong Jam and Lemon Myrtle. Yum!
Only fresh, high-quality, and seasonal produce is used across the menu in all cabin classes, and passengers are able to customise their meals based on their own preferences – kind of like ordering food in a restaurant.
Those with a sweet tooth will also be happy to learn that American Airlines, taking a page from Qantas’ book, will now be serving a mid-flight ice-cream treat.
And to cater to regular flyers, the main cabin menus will rotate every six months. The portion size has also increased by 50 percent in the main cabin, and meals now include a flavour infused dinner roll and upscale dessert.
Engaging entertainment will keep you busy
As a part of a billion dollar investment into improving the customer experience in the air, American Airlines is now able to offer over 300 movies and more than 300 TV shows – in addition to some 700 audio albums, 18 radio channels, and 20 games – as part of its in-seat in-flight entertainment experience for all passengers.
Passengers are also able charge their own devices via AC power outlets and USB ports at every seat on the 777-300ER, as well as access the Internet via the aircraft’s onboard Wi-Fi.
Its First Class is absolutely amazing!
Travellers looking for the ultimate passage across the Pacific will be happy to learn about American Airlines’ Flagship First Class, which delivers exceptional service combined with maximum comfort in the air.
Featuring seats that transform into fully lie-flat 82in/208cm lounge position and drop-down armrests, direct aisle access at every seat, a 17-inch touchscreen monitor with tons of options, and a walk-up bar stocked with snacks and refreshments – a first for any U.S. carrier – American Airlines’ next generation of Flagship First Class is the best way across the Pacific.
Additional highlights of flying First Class with American Airlines include complimentary pyjamas and amenity kits filled with rejuvenating skincare products, Bose® QuietComfort® Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones for use in flight, and enhanced complimentary food and beverage options including increased menu selections.
In 2017, First Class travellers on American Airlines’s 3-class international (including SYD-LAX route) and transcontinental flights will also have exclusive access to Flagship Dining, which is a unique pre-flight dining experience with full table side service.
And Business Class is awesome too!
Business Class travellers are also in for a treat with American Airlines, with fully lie-flat seats with adjustable seat back, head rests, and direct aisle access all part of the experience.
Passengers flying Business also get exclusive amenity kits filled with rejuvenating skincare products, Bose® QuietComfort® Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones for use in flight, and enhanced complimentary food and beverage options including increased menu selections.
Like passengers flying in First Class, Business Class passengers have access to a walk-up bar stocked with snacks and refreshments.
