New Gold Premium cars, multi-train trips & more: Journey Beyond launches 2025 season

Last week, Journey Beyond marked the official launch of its 2025 season with a big bash in its hometown town Adelaide – and Karryon joined the celebrations.

Held at the Adelaide Parklands Terminal, the event saw the experiential rail operator share the partnerships and projects it has in store for 2024 and beyond. And it has no shortage of those…

But first, Journey Beyond treated those present to an exclusive preview of its new Gold Premium carriages onboard the Indian Pacific. Along with newly decked-out cabins, the Gold Premium experience includes pretty much more of everything, with more courses at dinner, more amenities in the cabin, more premium wines and other special touches.

Additionally, guests had an exclusive look at Journey Beyond’s swish, new Outback Spirit coach.

Two’s better than one

Journey Beyond also recently revealed new ‘Multi-Train Packages’ for the 2025 season, a product that pairs its experiential rail journeys together for the first time.

With four packages available, travellers can combine north-south journeys on The Ghan with east-west trips on the Indian Pacific and east coast adventures on the Great Southern. Want to travel from Brisbane or Darwin to Perth? How about Darwin to Sydney? These new packages have you covered.

On the journey to Darwin, travellers can also take in Alice Springs Telegraph Station, a new addition to the Journey Beyond portfolio of iconic Australian tourism experiences.

“The Alice Springs Telegraph Station is a poignant historical reminder of how communications and passage through the heart of Australia were established,” Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent said.

“It continues to evoke that pioneering spirit, which is why it makes such an impactful venue for the signature dinner on The Ghan Expedition. We are delighted to be the custodians of this significant landmark.”

Jurlique and Journey

Elsewhere, Journey Beyond has unveiled a new partnership with fellow iconic South Australian company, Jurlique, which will see the B-Corp-certified beauty brand provide sustainable, natural-based products for Platinum guests on The Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern from April this year.

Products include seed-to-skin products like a lemon, geranium and clary sage Shower Gel and a unisex, soap-free shower gel enriched with pure organic botanicals along with plenty of other luxurious amenities.

“Journey Beyond and Jurlique share a similar philosophy around connection with nature, making this a natural partnership in more ways than one,” Journey Beyond Executive General Manager of Rail David Donald said.

“Our train journeys are all about connecting with the landscapes we travel through, so Jurlique’s high-performing, pure and natural skincare, which is based on sustainable biodynamic farming and ingredients that come from the land, is a perfect fit.”

Paspaley partnership

Meanwhile, Journey Beyond has teamed up with Australia’s top pearl company, Paspaley, to offer a new travel experience in the Kimberley region.

“The new tour offers visitors to Broome the opportunity to experience the most beautiful pearls in the world from a behind-the-scenes perspective,” Tallent said.

“As pearling pioneers, Paspaley cultivates stunning pearls at their Pearl Farm in Roebuck Bay, which are then crafted into extraordinary jewellery pieces.”

Eco warriors

Perhaps most importantly, Journey Beyond has announced the launch of its national corporate social responsibility program, Journey Lightly.

The new program combines all of the company’s current projects and sets clear guidelines for sustainable and responsible tourism in the areas they work in.

“As Australia’s largest experiential tourism group, we want to be proactive stewards of the planet, ensuring we go beyond when it comes to responsible tourism ethics and practices,” says Tallent.

“We travel to areas with a unique sense of place, and Journey Lightly ensures that the essence of what makes the place so special, from the people to the natural environment and wildlife, is respected, preserved and sustained for years to come.”

One of Australia’s iconic journeys, The Ghan racks up 95 years of outback adventures in August 2024. To celebrate, The Ghan’s 95th birthday sale has savings of up to $1,000 per person on select tours and discounted premium cabin bookings.

Last week, Outback Spirit’s 2025 season launched with a bumper 168-page brochure featuring 26 all-inclusive tours. Even better, the full 2025 season launch comes with up to $2,995 off per person.
