Another hotel employs a robot 'Botlr'

A.L.O's younger sibling Dash has followed in his brother's footsteps and commenced 'Botlr' hotel duties at the Crowne Plaza San Jose-Silicon Valley.

A.L.O’s younger sibling Dash has followed in his brother’s footsteps and commenced ‘Botlr’ hotel duties at the Crowne Plaza San Jose-Silicon Valley.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) took delivery of the mechanical worker this week to help staff with smaller tasks around the hotel.

Standing at three-feet tall, Dash is practically A.L.O’s twin, weighing less than 100 pounds and moving at a human walking pace.

Similar to his brother’s role at Starwood’s Cupertino Aloft Hotel, Dash will be responsible for bringing Crowne Plaza’s guests their snacks, toothbrushes and other amenities.

In order to receive a delivery by Dash, guests call room service and place their request.

Staff then equip Dash with everything he needs before he independently navigates between floors. When Dash arrives at the guest room, he phones the guest to announce his arrival.

Guests can then open the door, pick up their delivery and send Dash on his merry little way back to the front desk and into his own charging station.

Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ VP of Americans Brand Management said Dash is a ‘natural’ fit to enhance on the service delivery program.

“Crowne Plaza hotel team members are also excited to explore new, innovative ways to serve our guests using Dash.”

Dash is the first ‘Botlr’ to be employed with the Crowne Plaza brand. Following his trial period, the group will determine whether or not to roll out the robot at other properties.
