A flood of questions arose after last night’s Game of Thrones’ season finale was aired. What if heart-throb Jon Snow doesn’t return for Season 6? Did Cercei really deserve the brutal ‘shame-walk’? Has Arya lost her face for good?

Avid fans (who don’t want to wait behind TV screens for their next ‘GoT-hit’ in April 2016) can get the ultimate filming experience by visiting the picturesque backdrops where the blood-thirsty scenes were shot.

Northern Ireland

Thanks to off-site filming locations, the Northern Ireland economy has received a much-appreciated tourism boost as hardcore fans visit the region.

Tourism Ireland cleverly launched a series of GoT promotion campaigns together with HBO including dragon eggs, which were strategically placed at surprise locations around Belfast.
The Stangford Castle Ward Estate and the Castle Ward Tower, both located in County Down, are also now-famous backdrops.

Croatia

The Croatian town of Kastel Gomilica was a major location  in the season finale and is where most of Arya’s scenes were shot.

You wouldn’t imagine the icy White Walkers to live anywhere in the world except in…yes – Iceland. In Season 5, scenes where Jon Snow tried save the Wildlings (that didn’t end well) took place at Vatnajökull and Svínafellsjökull.

The travel agency Lawrence of Morocco has created an infographic to show the locations where GOT has been filmed including Croatia, Northern Ireland and Iceland, revealing the true backdrops.
