To celebrate the Chinese New Year, we’ve distilled 5,000 years of ancient Chinese wisdom and compiled a list of the 12 Chinese Zodiac travel agent signs.

So let’s see what the Chinese have to say about YOUR personality…

1. Monkey

monkey

Monkey travel agents (it’s your year guys!) are magnetic personalities, and possess a sharp mind and a keen sense of humour. Forever playful, they are highly prized in the working environment. Able to sell ice to an Eskimo, they are natural salesmen and women and pick up skills very quickly.

They are also very creative, and are able to come up with novel solutions to common problems.

However, their joking nature can often hurt those around them. They can also employ sly tactics to achieve their goals and this can make others distrustful of them.

Your lucky colours are white, blue and gold, and your lucky numbers are 4 and 9.

2. Dragon

dragon

Dragon travel agents are confident and smart, and posses a quick wit and a sharp tongue. Not afraid of challenges, they thrive in the fast paced world of retail and corporate travel. They ooze ambition and enthusiasm, and for these reasons are often the top-selling agents in their circle of influence.

They are also determined risk-takers who don’t let anything get in the way between them and their goals – including other agents. They are very eagle-like.

However, Dragon travel agents can be arrogant, stubborn and aggressive, and they aren’t very open to criticism. They also find it hard to follow protocol and instead prefer to carve their own path.

Your lucky colours are gold, silver and white, and your lucky numbers are 1, 6 and 7.

3. Snake

snake

Said to be the most intuitive of the zodiac pack, Snake travel agents are great at predicting when an airline will announce a new sale, and somehow just know when to make those important decisions. Snakes are often reticent travel agents, yet they make great communicators and their determination to achieve their monthly commission targets help them compete with the best of them.

The challenge for Snakes is that they tend to get stressed a lot easier than others at work, as they prefer to work alone and find it hard to ask for help. However, their stress levels are nothing a few pints or wines after work can’t alleviate.

Your lucky colours are  black, red and yellow, and your lucky numbers are 2, 8 and 9.

4. Horse

horse

As a Horse travel agent, you’re animated, energetic and extremely excitable. You love communicating with your fellow humans, and this makes you an excellent sales person. However, you can be cunning and even deceptive at times – you’ll do nearly anything to grab the sale.

Horses are natural leaders, and you’ll feel most comfortable in a managerial role.

As you love being amongst it all – in crowds, at concerts, at meetings – you’re often the life of the party at buzz nights, industry events and conferences. Just be careful with the alcohol…

Your lucky colours are yellow and green, and your lucky numbers are 2, 3 and 7.

5. Rat

Rat travel agents are quick-witted, resourceful and versatile, and are able to sell travel to people of all works of life – from students, to corporates, to families, to retirees. As such they are well suited to the retail travel environment.

They have a strong sense of intuition, helping them know when a customer is there solely to waste time or to actually book. They are also great opportunists, and they know the right thing to say at the right time to the right people in order to get what they want (whether that be a famil, a promotion or a transfer).

Rats, being the curious folk that they are, are also excellent communicators, and are masters at building rapport with clients.

Your lucky colours are blue, gold and green, and your lucky numbers are 2 and 3.

6. Rooster

Rooster travel agents are hard-working and observant, courageous and resourceful, and make excellent communicators. As such, they are well suited for selling travel, and their talkative nature makes them popular among their co-workers and clients. They are apt to be peacocks.

Roosters love being the centre of attention and take great pride in their appearance. They also love it when they’re surrounded by others, and function exceptionally well when working as part of a team. Their ability to produce consistent sales results makes them highly prized in the industry too.

However, their constant seeking of attention and their boastful nature can make others tire of them – fast.

Your lucky colours are gold, brown and yellow, and your lucky numbers are 5, 7 and 8.

7. Dog

Dog travel agents are loyal, friendly, sincere and prudent, making them effective at building long-lasting relationships with their clients. They have a good nature and are definitely some of the more honest travel agents in the business.

Always ready and willing to help others, Dogs make excellent assistant managers as they’re able to help newbies in store with their questions and concerns.

However, as a Dog travel agent, they need to be careful they’re not taken advantage of by others who see their willingness to help as a weakness. They also need to work on their communication, as they can sometimes find it hard to express themselves to others.

Your lucky colours are red, green and purple, and your lucky numbers are 3, 4 and 9.

8. Pig

Pig travel agents are focused, diligent and compassionate, and are great all-rounders – they’re great at sales, accounts and as leaders. They rarely ask others for help, but are always there to lend a hand to others.

They are excellent at setting and achieving goals – they have almost monk-like concentration skills – and remain calm when confronting obstacles. Pig travel agents take full responsibility for their clients, and if they promise a client a quote by a certain time, you can be sure it will be delivered on time – every time.

However, they can be a little naive, and are easily tricked by others. They also need to be careful they don’t take too much on, which can lead to a lot of stress and after hours work.

Your lucky colours are yellow, grey, brown and gold, and your lucky numbers are 2, 5 and 8.

9. Rabbit

rabbit

Rabbit travel agents are quiet, gentle and kind (they are often doves), making them much more suited to slower-paced working environments such as a boutique travel agencies and specialised adventure wholesalers. They are sincere, patient and responsible, and although they may not sell as much travel as other zodiac signs (such as tigers or horses), they often have the most loyal customers in the biz.

As such, they are able to make an excellent living as a travel agent if they stay in the game for longer than a few years.

Rabbit travel agents aren’t easily discouraged, and when faced with a challenge they are able to remain level-headed and methodical in their solutions.

However, they are often too cautious and conservative and miss many opportunities. They also have a tendency to withdraw into themselves.

Your lucky colours are red, pink, purple and blue, and your lucky numbers are 3, 4 and 6.

10. Goat

goat

Goat travel agents are often calm and quiet – even shy, yet exude professionalism when on the job. They are stable and have a keen sense of justice, preferring to do things by the book instead of cutting corners.

Yet, although they may look gentle on the outside, they are actually extremely tough on the inside, and when push comes to shove – for example, when confronted with an irate client – they rarely back down and posses strong fortitude in making their opinions known.

They work well in a group environment (being a mobile travel agent isn’t for them) but prefer to keep mostly to themselves, shunning the limelight.

Your lucky colours are brown, red and purple, and your lucky numbers are 2 and 7.

11. Ox

ox

Ox travel agents are the most dependable and diligent of the pack (they make excellent assistant managers), and are known for their strong determination in achieving their sales goals come hell or high water. They have an honest nature that helps them quickly build trust with their clients.

Ox travel agents are also extremely patient, and achieve their goals through persistent hard work.

Often conservative, Ox travel agents aren’t likely to get wasted at an industry event, and are likely to be among the first to head home after a boozy night on the town. Communication is another challenge for Ox travel agents; however they’re able to build their social skills through working alongside others over time.

Your lucky colours are white, yellow and green, and your lucky numbers are 1 and 4.

12. Tiger

tiger

Tiger travel agents are competitive, charming and confident – making them absolute superstars in sales (they’re usually eagles). They are well-liked by their colleagues, and valued for their get-up-and-go energy in the office.

They excel when put in charge of others, and do well when acting as store leaders. They also love a challenge and thrive when given an incentive or monthly sales target.

However, they are also unpredictable and their results often lack consistency. They can also be irritable at times and their volatile behaviour (rah!) can often land them in trouble, especially when combined with beer or wine.

Your lucky colours are blue, grey and orange, and your lucky numbers are 1, 3 and 4.
