Qantas continues to add to its Asia network with additional flights on the Sydney-Hong Kong and Perth-Singapore routes.
As of December 2015, the airline will add a Tuesday and Thursday service between Perth and Singapore on a year round basis. Flights will be operated with the Boeing 737-800 and will increase services from five per week to daily.
Additionally, the carrier will operate a second service on a Friday between Sydney and Hong Kong from 11 December. A combination of refurbished Boeing 747 and Airbus 330 aircraft will operate this route, with selected services during Christmas and the Lunar New Year being upgraded to an A380 during these peak times.
Qantas International CEO, Gareth Evans, said increased flights to Asia come as demand for the continent continues to takeoff.
This is mostly driven by tour operators expanding business in the region, including Topdeck, which revealed this week it would launch its first tours in Asia next year.
“Asia is a strategic priority for Qantas and we’re going to continue to support Australia’s growth in the region by maximising our fleet, deepening our partnerships, and offering what we believe is the best premium service in the market.”
Gareth Evans, Qantas International CEO
Increased services to Asia comes two months after the carrier added flights on the same Sydney-Hong Kong route as well as those between Sydney and Manila. It also follows recently revealed plans to return to Bali by removing Jetstar on select flights between Sydney and Bali.
