Creative Holidays to cease operations

The Travel Corporation (TTC) has announced the forthcoming closure of Creative Holidays following an 'exhaustive review' of the brand in the current market.

The Travel Corporation (TTC) has announced the forthcoming closure of Creative Holidays following an ‘exhaustive review’ of the brand in the current market.

The news was confirmed this morning by The Travel Corporation Australia’s Chief Executive, John Veitch, who said the business has been operating in a ‘fiercely competitive’ environment.

Doors to the FIT independent wholesaler will officially close on 31 December 2015, with some staff expected to be relocated within TTC.

Agents with existing bookings will be contacted by a member of the Creative Holidays team in order to discuss options. A Creative Holidays transition team will remain in place to look after existing bookings.

While Creative Holidays shuts down, TTC confirmed the change will in no way affect Creative Cruising on Adventure World, which remain fully operational and focused on growth potential.

“It goes without saying that this has been a tough decision, which was made in close collaboration with the Board of Directors at TTC, following an exhaustive review of the brand over an extended period of time.”

John Veitch, TTC Australia Chief Executive

“The fiercely competitive environment in which we now operate has made for a difficult business proposition for a mass generalist FIT independent wholesaler such as Creative Holidays, hence we have reached this sad conclusion.

The closure comes after a recent complete makeover of Creative Holidays’ online presence, which included agent-friendly updates such as book and hold airfares.

The Creative Holidays team also recent invested in online marketing and held an exciting competition for one agent to win his/her dream holiday.

“We wish to extend sincere gratitude to all of those in the industry that have supported Creative Holidays over the years and thank the team in particular for their unrelenting commitment.”

Veitch continued, saying he sees immense growth opportunity in the company’s cruising and niche specialist FIT operations, where he hopes to deploy members of the Creative Holidays team.

“We are currently working through this process with those whose roles have been impacted. It is absolutely our number one priority to look after our people.”

TTC stressed that no other companies in its portfolio have been affected by the change.
