Contiki bosses and employees are in mourning after losing one of their own, Danielle Angus, in a vehicle accident in Indonesia late last week.
Angus, a Contiki employee based in Auckland, was travelling with a small group of tourists to the Gili Islands when their van crashed in south Lombok.
Five other travellers, including two New Zealanders, received non-threatening injuries in the accident and were sent to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.
In a statement, Contiki described Angus as a valued colleague and said staff were “devastated at losing a friend and colleague”.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our clients has been killed in a vehicle accident in South Lombok, Indonesia at 11.26 am local time Thursday 8 December.”

“She was also one of our valued colleagues at our Auckland office and naturally we are devastated at losing a friend and colleague.”
Senior representatives from the company have travelled to Indonesia to provide support for other clients on the tour as well as visit those in hospital to ensure they are receiving the best possible treatment.
“Our colleagues in New Zealand are doing everything possible to support families, directly affected clients and our people during this difficult time.”

“This includes having spoken with and providing assistance to our colleague’s parents as well as the parents of the two New Zealanders who were injured in the crash.
“We offer our deepest condolences to her family – our heartfelt thoughts are with them.”
