Major travel company restarts Jordan tours in another boost to Middle East travel

G Adventures will restart its Jordan departures from 1 August 2026 after a three-month pause tied to conflict in the Middle East, following the relaxation of Australia's travel advisories to the region.

G Adventures will restart its Jordan departures from 1 August 2026 after a three-month pause tied to conflict in the Middle East, following the relaxation of Australia’s travel advisories to the region.

Trips taking in Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and the ancient city of Jerash go back on sale for departures from 1 August, reopening one of the operator’s signature small-group destinations to Australian travellers.

What advisors need to know on entry advice

The restart is pegged to eased travel advisories, a detail that matters for travel insurance validity, so advisors should confirm the current DFAT advice on Smartraveller for Jordan before finalising bookings.

Late summer and autumn are positioned as prime seasons to visit, suited to travellers hiking sections of the Jordan Trail or joining trips designed for solo travellers.

A commitment to destination

“We’ve always been quick to return to destinations as soon as it is safe to do so, because we’ve seen time and again the vital role tourism plays in supporting local communities and livelihoods,” said G Adventures chief operating officer Michelle Hudema.

“Jordan holds a special place for us. Following our GX Summit in September 2025, we welcomed new communities and local partners into our tours and supply chain, and we’re eager to resume operations and continue creating opportunities through the power of sustainable travel.

“For travellers, there has never been a better time to experience this extraordinary destination. Late summer and autumn are fantastic seasons to visit, whether you’re looking to hike sections of the ancient Jordan Trail or join one of our adventures designed exclusively for solo travellers.

“By choosing to travel to Jordan, our travellers can enjoy an unforgettable experience while helping ensure tourism continues to deliver meaningful benefits to the people and communities who depend on it,” Hudema said.
