Troubles with the country’s flag carrier and floods in early January haven’t deterred Australians from travelling to Malaysia, according to latest figures.
Statistics released by the Malaysia’s Immigration Department show that Australians continue to be amongst the country’s top 10 tourist-generating markets for the first three months of the year.
Tourism Malaysia’s Sydney Director, Roslan Abdullah said the result was ‘unsurprising’ because Malaysia is an ideal destination for Australians, offering safety, political stability and value-for-money.
“And with unparalleled diversity in terms of our tourism offering, we can accommodate just about every type of traveller, including families, sun-seekers, honeymooners and adventure lovers. Plus we are not much further away than Bali.”

From January to March this year, the country welcomed a total of 6,482,696 tourist arrivals.
While his number was down slightly on the same period during Visit Malaysia Year 2014, tourism arrivals are on par with 2013.
This result comes after aggressive promotion efforts and commitment from Malaysia’s tourism leaders. This includes celebrations for the 2015 Malaysia Year of Festivals and a recent campaign promoting the country’s shopping appeal.
In addition to experiencing Malaysia’s hospitality and culinary treats, Aussies are flying over to the destination for its major attractions such as LEGOLAND® Resort.
The country’s first international theme park welcomed record numbers earlier this year.
