Delta unveils 'paparazzi-proof' terminals

Delta Air Lines has some good news for celebrities and a bit of bad news for their ‘stans’.

The airline has unveiled plans to make select New York terminals ‘paparazzi-free’ as a means of protecting the travelling rich and famous from flashes and incessant questions.

Named ‘VIP Select’, the first terminal could either be introduced at John F Kennedy Airport or La Guardia and could be open as soon as next year.

As part of the program, passengers such as Kim K, Kanye, Leo di Caprio and more, are picked up on the tarmac by a luxury vehicle – and we mean luxury, the airline uses a Porsche hybrid to meet guests.

The luxury car drives the celebrity to their own chauffeured cars, which will be waiting at a secret underground location.

There they quickly hop out of one vehicle and into the other – avoiding any photographers and fans.

Outbound travellers pull up to an underground private entrance of the Delta lounge, before going through secret passageways to reach the express check-in.

Once clear, they return to the lounge to enjoy the bar, food and private showers.

Already available at Los Angeles International Airport, VIP Select costs around $250 per person and is only available to first-class travellers.

A Spokesperson told media that the airline is trialling New York before potentially introducing the service at other gateways.

“We are exploring the opportunity of expanding the service to other markets, including New York City.”
