First Class travellers will receive nothing but the finest foods, service and technology at Cathay Pacific’s recently renovated The Pier First Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The doors to the 2,061 square metres space reopened this week following an extensive renovation.
Located at Gate 63 in the North West concourse of HKIA, the lounge now seats a maximum of 231 travellers and offers what Cathay describes as ‘heartfelt warmth, considered simplicity and contemporary Asian values’.
Using the concept of a ‘contemporary apartment’, the new lounge was designed by London-based design studio, Studioilse, to offer passengers a place to relax, engage and focus on well-being.
The atmosphere throughout the lounge has a domestic level of comfort and characteristics of a home. This has been achieved through the choice of materials, furniture, and lighting.
The same approach was used with the selection of art, music, and food, all of which have been curated to feel coherent and support the idea of this being an apartment that visitors are guests in.
A new focus on passenger well-being has been introduced with the abundance of plants supplements offering First Class travellers a dose of nature.
There’s also the new complimentary foot massage. It is the first service of its kind in Cathay Pacific lounges and offers the chance for a quick massage prior to takeoff.
In addition to the Foot Massage, the Retreat area consists also of Day Suites and Showers. The Pier is fitted with a total of eight suites, each furnished with a comfortable daybed, a reading light, a mirror, and heavy curtains for added personal privacy.
And now for the food and beverages. The Pier First Class Lounge features the Dining Room, an à la carte experience for 100 people at a time with freshly prepared dishes made-to-order by the chef.
There’s also the Pantry, where passengers can pick up ‘grab and go’ delicacies with items changing throughout the day.
If that’s not enough, there’s also The Library for quiet reading or The Bureau, a home office environment with six iMac computers.
The Pier First Class Lounge is open to First Class passengers, Diamond Marco Polo Club members, and Emerald oneworld members who are departing or transiting in Hong Kong.
Opening hours are from 5:30am until the last departure.
