It’s Monday again – JKS, the weekend is here but before you slip into weekend mode let KarryOn entertain you with a wrap of the news stories that made headlines in travel this week.
While we all wake up to the same surroundings, around 170 Global Achievers made their way to Darwin today for the annual Qantas Holidays trip.

The week started off, with Qantas’ CEO Alan Joyce making a HUGE promise – direct flights between Australia and the UK by 2017.
Speaking to Air Transport World last week, Qantas boss Alan Joyce told attendees that the latest version of the Dreamliner has created new network opportunities for airlines and even opened up the possibility of ‘direct services from Australia to Europe for the first time’. Read on

Also in aviation, Qatar Airways announced new daily flights to and from South Australia.
Beginning in May, the carrier will operate its Airbus A350-900 between Qatar and Adelaide – its fourth route from Australia following Melbourne, Perth and commencing in March next year, Sydney. Read on

Trafalgar made headlines when it announced the launch of a new brand – CostSaver.
Formerly a programme within Trafalgar, the company decided to separate it after reviewing feedback from guests for more great value tours. Read on

P&O has selected two Australian celebrities that ‘really embody the new look and feel of P&O Cruises’ to godmother its new ships in a ‘modern way’.
Singer Jessica Mauboy and radio personality Kate Ritchie will bless Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden on 25 November when the two vessels sail into Sydney where they’ll meet Pacific Jewel, Pacific Pearl and Pacific Dawn for Australia’s first-ever five-ship rendezvous. Read on
