AmaWaterways now offers increased booking and client support to Aussie and Kiwi advisors via a dedicated reservations call centre led by a locally based team available during Australian business hours.

The launch comes as the luxury river cruise line has received many reservations and enquiries, particularly from the Sydney and New Zealand markets, along with a record sales month in January 2024.

The local AmaWaterways team, led by Head of Reservations Ian Lyne, recently completed training and will operate weekdays from 8am to 5pm (Sydney time).

“We’re dedicated to becoming one of the easiest, friendliest and most knowledgeable teams in this market,” Mr Lyne said.

The California-based river cruise company has also localised other operations to benefit Australian and New Zealand agents.

This includes adding more 14-night cruise itineraries, prices in both AUD and NZD, localised websites, soon-to-be-released brochures and commercial arrangements with local trade partners.

“We know Aussies and Kiwis travel for longer periods than travellers from some other countries, especially to Europe, and that’s already being highlighted for us by the keen interest in our longer 14-night cruises,” Mr Lyne said.

Asia is also proving popular among ANZ travellers with an influx of enquiries and reservations for its Riches of the Mekong and Charms of the Mekong itineraries.

AmaWaterways Managing Director AU/NZ Steve Richards is also pleased with local trade interest.

“Although AmaWaterways is not yet a household name here, it’s exciting to know over 200,000 Australians and New Zealanders have already cruised on our ships under our previous GSA arrangement,” he said.
