Intrepid Group’s Leigh Barnes sacrificed his beloved beard earlier this month to raise funds for the world’s cutest little apes, the Orangutans.

The Chief Purpose Officer’s co-workers, partners, family and friends supported his brave shave through donations, which were matched by The Intrepid Group to reach a total of $17,111.

Although his face may feel a little naked for a while, the funds raised will go to the HUTAN Orangutan Conservation Program in Borneo, which works closely with the Sabah Wildlife Department to identify and understand the complex threats facing Borneo’s orangutans.

Their efforts have led to improved land management, reduced habitat degradation, control of illegal logging and poaching in key habitat areas and improved community cooperation. HUTAN also works to protect elephants, swiftlets and other native animals in the area.

Since 2002, The Intrepid Foundation has donated over AU$6 million to more than 100 local and international organisations across the globe.

Join us in congratulating Intrepid’s Leigh Barnes on his brave shave!
