Are you ready to get your BATTLE on today? It is Friday after all, and today is definitely the best day of the week to settle old scores before the weekend kicks off. So who will you be cheering on today?
As we all know, Flight Centre is one BIG happy family, bound together by their unflinching devotion to El Capitan, their love of industry Buzz nights, and their continual quest to make their customers’ travel dreams a reality and earn some sweet, sweet commission on the side.
But this week on Friday Showdown, these ties will be put to the test inside the KarryOn ring.
Flight Centre NSW will battle it out with their southern brothers Flight Centre VIC on what has been hailed by some (well, me anyway) as THE Showdown of the travel industry calendar.
But enough from me, let’s throw things over to Terry who’s just about to start today’s proceedings.
So take it away Terry.
TERRY: Thanks Shaun.
Today’s showdown will test each agent’s ability to sell their respective states.
In the blue corner we have Phil representing Flight Centre VIC.
He’s been a flighty for seven odd years in Melbourne, working all throughout the CBD and outer suburbs.
Let’s hear it for Phil!
And in the purple corner we have Jack representing Flight Centre NSW.
He’s feeling freakin’ awesome after attending KarryOn’s facetime event last night, where he got to meet all the lovely staff, catch up with awesome peeps, and even had the chance to boogie with the one and only Sandra Childs from InPlace recruitment!
Man, that chick can move!
On a more serious note, he’s been kicking a$$ as a Flight Centre travel consultant for over 10 years, and has always had a thing against Victorians.
Let’s get a cheer for Jack!
TERRY: Let’s have a clean and fair fight guys.
(BOTH AGENTS NOD)
**Round one.**
Ready? Set? Go!
And it’s Jack who’s talking up his state first.
He’s mentioned to the audience that NSW is currently attracting scores of Chinese tourists to his home state, due in part to government backing by Premier Mike Baird and a Qantas promotional campaign.
And when you think about it, he poses to the audience, what’s not to love about NSW: The Opera House, the Blue Mountains, the Harbour – the state has it all!
Nice work Jack!
But now Phil’s got something to say…
(Phil walks up to Terry, and grabs the microphone.)
PHIL: “We don’t have the lock out laws in Melbourne.”
(Drops microphone and proceeds to walk out of the ring.)
TERRY: And that’s gotta hurt!
But now Jack is saying that…
DING DING DING!
