GREENER HOTELS: Pan Pacific Hotels to remove ALL single-use plastics by 2019

Pan Pacific Hotels Group is taking its commitment to protect the environment beyond plastic straws by removing ALL single-use plastics from its properties worldwide.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group is taking its commitment to protect the environment beyond plastic straws by removing ALL single-use plastics from its properties worldwide.

That’s right, over the next 12 months all non-biodegradable single-use plastics will be eliminated from the Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts, Pan Pacific Serviced Apartments, PARKROYAL Hotels & Resorts as well as PARKROYAL Serviced Apartments.

Single-use plastics to check-out of each property include plastic pens, stirrers, takeaway coffee cups and boxes. The group will also remove plastic wraps for in-room slippers and plastic laundry wraps.

Pan Pacific said it was exploring environmentally-friendly options for in-room amenities and was seeking ways to expand recycling efforts from used soap to non-disposable plastics.

All of this is in addition to the removal of plastic straws, which was completely in July 2018, and the group’s 24.8 percent reduction of energy and water intensity per guest night over the last five years.

Senior Vice-President of Operations, Neo Soon Hup, said the group respects the environment and is hoping latest initiatives will help protect it for the future and the next generation.

“We are also taking sustainability to the next level by looking at the traceability of food produce and ways to minimise food waste generated at our properties in the near-term.”
