Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy is calling on donations of second-hand bikes and spare bike parts to deliver to the Duuma Wajane Bike Shop in Tanzania, Africa.
It’s all part of the luxury travel experts’ belief “that travel comes with a unique responsibility to leave the world a better place, to respect the natural environment and positively impact lives and livelihoods in the communities where their guests travel”.
You see, each bike shop employs five women, providing them with the opportunity to support their families through earned income.
Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy supports the operations of bike shops in Zambia, Botswana, Uganda, Jordan and Tanzania.
Through this project, they are arranging the shipment of a container of second-hand bikes and spare parts from Melbourne to the Duuma Wajane Bike Shop in Tanzania.
So this weekend and next A&K staff, guests and partners are invited to donate used bikes to the cause.
You can drop off anything from used bikes and helmets to spare parts at Factory 38, 640-680 Geelong Road, Brooklyn, Victoria.
This is an opportunity to positively impact the lives of an African community, so go dig out those old bikes and be the change you wish to see in the world.
