Memphis Tourism raised the roof at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on 15 May 2024 with an exclusive performance featuring acclaimed Tennessee talents and platinum record holders Hi Rhythm Section for the travel trade and media with partners United Airlines and Cosmos.
Industry insiders were treated to live music stylings from Hi Rhythm Section, accompanied by Memphis stars Boo Mitchell, Lina Beach and Jerome Chism, ahead of their performance at the annual Blues on Broadbeach festival on Gold Coast from 16-19 May.
Hi Rhythm Section’s producer Boo Mitchell made Memphis music history by winning the city’s first-ever Record of the Year Grammy for the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars hit, “Uptown Funk”, in 2016.

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lina Beach also showcased her range with the group alongside much-loved Memphis soul singer Jerome Chism with the performers also attending Blues on Broadbeach with the band.

The all-star collective is also celebrating 10 years of the critically acclaimed documentary, Take Me to the River, with songs from the film performed during their set.
One lucky VIP event attendee, Flight Centre Senior Consultant Penny Baker, won a Memphis trip for two with United Airlines flights and a three-night stay at the iconic Peabody Memphis Hotel plus attraction passes and meals, thanks to Memphis Tourism and partners.

Memphis Tourism Australia & New Zealand Director Chris Ingram (aka Mr Memphis) said he was ecstatic with the travel industry turnout at the evening event.

“We’re excited to have given people a glimpse into what Memphis’ music industry has to offer. We simply couldn’t present such a significant travel trade initiative without the support from our valued partners, United Airlines and Cosmos.”
