Movers & Shakers: Maritime industry's Teresa Lloyd to join Carnival Australia

Carnival Australia has announced that one of the maritime industry’s highly regarded members, Teresa Lloyd, will be joining its local team.

Carnival Australia has announced that one of the maritime industry’s highly regarded members, Teresa Lloyd, will be joining its local team.

Currently Chief Executive of industry body Maritime Industry Australia Ltd (MIAL), Ms Lloyd will join Carnival Australia in the new role of Chief Strategy and External Affairs Officer.

The appointment comes as Carnival Australia’s Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Sandy Olsen, has been promoted to a corporate affairs role for the Holland America Group.

Ms Olsen will relocate to the US West Coast and will formally step into the role upon her arrival.

Carnival Australia President Marguerite Fitzgerald said Ms Lloyd will become part of the team at an exciting time as the organisation’s cruise lines return to service in the region and re-define their priorities.

Ms Lloyd began her career as a naval architect before managing Technical Services for Western Australia’s Port Hedland Port Authority.

She moved back to her home state of Victoria to work on a National Ballast Water Demonstration Project on behalf of the government before leading MIAL in 2008.

“Teresa is a great fit for Carnival Australia given her deep technical knowledge and extensive experience advocating for the maritime industry over the past 14 years in her current leadership role,” Ms Fitzgerald said.

“In this expanded role, Teresa will be responsible for helping to define and then oversee the implementation of Carnival Australia’s key priorities areas as we develop a stronger and more sustainable business over time.

“She will also assume responsibility for corporate affairs functions including government relations, media relations, internal communications and events management.

“I also want to thank Sandy for her personal support for me since I started earlier this year as well as her tireless efforts on behalf of Carnival Australia and its brands over many years.

“This is an exciting time for Sandy too as she brings her experience and skills to a new environment within the family.”

Ms Lloyd will join Carnival Australia in mid-July.
