Wendy Wu Tours has welcomed experienced travel industry sales leader Simon Bell in the newly created role of General Manager of Sales for Australia to lead operations in the regional market, focusing on trade and direct business.

Based in Melbourne and reporting to Wendy Wu Tours global CEO Glen Mintrim, Mr Bell will drive the company’s ambitious three-year growth and development plans.

Mr Bell brings a vast portfolio of leadership and sales experience with successful senior leadership positions, including as Head of Sales at STA Travel Australia.

More recently he was Director of Sales for Quest Apartment Hotels, leading the national corporate sales team.

Mr Mintrim said Wendy Wu Tours is experiencing a very strong period of growth into 2023 that will see the company surpass 2019 business levels.

“Simon’s track record in driving sales and building highly commercially focused teams with some of the industry’s most successful travel companies is very impressive, plus his international experience and contacts in this sector, making him ideal for the role.”

“We look forward to having Simon at the helm to ensure all distribution channels continue to work at their maximum and optimised levels.”

Mr Bell said: “Wendy Wu Tours has a deserved reputation as the leading travel specialists within Australia for Asia, South America and now Europe and the Middle East, so it’s a real privilege to be at the helm.”

“We have an ambitious five-year business plan that will see us launch more innovative and new products and deliver a world-class sales experience to trade partners and customers.

“We value the continued support of our trade partners and will be rolling out more agent incentives and a series of exciting educationals over the next 12 months.”

Wendy Wu was one of the first tour operators to return to Japan earlier this year.
