TravelManagers sets new sales benchmark in February; commissions up 81%

TravelManagers reported its most successful sales month on record in February 2023 – up 77 per cent on the same period in 2019 – with personal travel managers also increasing their average commissions by more than 81 per cent.

TravelManagers reported its most successful sales month on record in February 2023 – up 77 per cent on the same period in 2019 – with personal travel managers also increasing their average commissions by more than 81 per cent.

TravelManagers attributed the boost to more customers taking longer holidays and spending more on their land arrangements, identifying these behaviours as driving trends.

The record-breaking month continues the company’s already strong start to the year, adding 29 per cent to January figures.

TravelManagers Executive General Manager Michael Gazal says despite having fewer personal travel managers (PTMs) than in 2019, PTMs reported being busier than ever and feeling positive about the start to 2023.

Mr Gazal said the growth came from long-haul travel with February 2023 sales for Europe up 71 per cent compared with February 2019.

High-value domestic bookings have also contributed to the stellar results with sales for Australia increasing by 51 per cent over the same period.

“We are seeing a general trend towards clients spending more on their hotels and local experiences – accommodation is up 40 per cent and tours by 27 per cent,” Mr Gazal said.

“These are sales results that we would not have dreamed about pre-COVID and they reflect a strong growth trend across the entire industry.

“A widespread acceptance of service fees indicates that our customers appreciate the expertise and experience of our PTMs more than ever.

“Combined with their ability to earn up to 95 per cent of at-source commissions, it’s an exciting time to be in travel.”
