No stranger to Australian shores, Visit Anchorage is heading back Down Under to showcase why Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska is a unique, year-round destination with deep connections to Aussie travellers and travel trade at the Niche is Nice 2025 boutique roadshow for travel advisors from 18–20 August.
When it comes to inspiring locations, brimming with natural appeal, urban attractions, epic wildlife, open spaces and cultural immersion, Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, offers all this and much more.
Located within Denaʼina Ełnena on the traditional homelands of the Dena’ina Athabascan people and the Native Village of Eklutna, Anchorage combines wild beauty with convenient city comforts.

Director of Tourism Sales Tia Froehle said Visit Anchorage is delighted to be on board as the Platinum Sponsor for the 2025 Niche is Nice event series with its focus on diverse destinations and specialist suppliers.
“The name says it all: Niche is Nice. And when we market Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska, it’s not about the masses – it’s about small groups. We have so many unique and wonderful local tour operators, attractions, restaurants and entertainment, and we want visitors to get to know them,” she said.
Visit Anchorage + Australian agents = Deep connections

Anchorage wants to be considered as more than a cruise destination, and Froehle said engaging with Australian travel advisors in person and making those valuable connections is a key component of that education piece.
“There’s such a great connection between Aussies and Alaskans – we love the great outdoors, adventure, culture and incredible food, and we love to meet the locals and go where the locals go,” she said.

“The opportunity to be in the Australian market and have those conversations has really changed how travel advisors sell Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska as well.
“We get that it’s a big state, but once they know they have a friend in Alaska who they can reach out to, it gives advisors the confidence to sell to those clients who have very detailed questions.”

Froehle said Visit Anchorage’s investment in the Australasian market has seen regional visitation from Australia and New Zealand soar, particularly in recent years.
“Australia and New Zealand’s combined annual visitation is pushing right for that number one spot and has been in the top three markets for the last three years, competing with the UK and German-speaking Europe,” she said.
Meet the Visit Anchorage experts

Visit Anchorage will attend all three Niche is Nice 2025 events in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, showcasing the destination in engaging presentations and the marketplace.
Meet Tia Froehle and the Visit Anchorage team to learn about more than 100 different local tourism suppliers across hotels, tours, attractions and Alaska Native culture.

“I look forward to reconnecting with all the agents I have met at a trade event or on a fam in Anchorage and Southcentral, and also meeting new agents,” Froehle said.
“I’ve already had agents reach out who are excited to meet with us because their clients are asking about Anchorage, and we can’t wait to help them curate client itineraries.”

Visit Anchorage’s marketplace presence will also feature interactive activations and some surprises from Alaska, including the moose mascot, Seymour of Anchorage.
Advisors can take a selfie with Seymour Moose and visit the AI photobooth to take home a digital memento.

Visit Anchorage also has three amazing Niche is Nice major prizes – one per city – featuring a five-day Urban & Wild Anchorage package with four nights’ accommodation plus local tours and attractions.
AWE-inspiring agents

Even if you don’t nab the major prize, you can still be a winner by signing up for the Anchorage Wild Expert (AWE) program to tap into training certification, sales tools and the latest updates and be the first to know about exclusive travel trade famils.
“Anchorage is about adventure, culture and food, and the tours and attractions are amazing, but what visitors really take away is the people they meet and how the locals make everyone’s visit even more special,” Froehle said.
