Perfectly located on Fleet Street at the Westmoreland Street end, Temple Bar Hotel provides easy access to the Hop on/Hop off bus stop and Trinity College. It’s also a great spot if you are taking the Air-coach shuttle to/from the airport as it drops you off with less than a 1-minute walk to the hotel.
Travelling with a suitcase? No problem, even with the cobbled street it’s easy to reach the hotel with wheeled luggage.
As you enter the hotel you are greeted by a large lobby and reception area with leather sofas and a beautiful fireplace. You’ll also find a computer station with free internet, there are free local newspapers in the lobby too. As I take the lift to my room I’m surprised at how wide the corridors are and easy to navigate.
ROOM TYPE
The lounge at the Temple Bar Hotel, Dublin
As with most city centre hotels the rooms are cosy, however, space is utilised well to give it a homely feel. There is plenty of room for storage too. Rooms are beautifully decorated using natural tones and a lovely shade of blue which can be seen throughout the hotel.
I’ve spent recent years enjoying polished floorboards in hotel rooms, so it was refreshing to have a carpeted room. I’d forgotten how much I missed them and how warm they make the room feel.
Depending on the room type you choose, the rooms are able to accommodate 2-3 adults or 2 adults/1 child. If there are 4 guests wishing to share a room you will need to select a Deluxe Double offering 2 double beds and be happy sharing. You’ll also need to request a room with a bathtub if this is your preference as the rooms offer a mixture of shower only or shower over bath.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Toast Restaurant at Temple Bar Hotel, Dublin
You’ll be spoilt for choice at the Toast Restaurant’s buffet breakfast. On offer is everything from cereal, fruit, breads and pastries, to meats and cheeses. But, how can you go past the full Irish including black and white pudding!
The ceiling really adds to the dining experience, the tainted glass lets in natural light and sets a lovely tone for the day.
Buskers Bar is part of the hotel and offers live music 7 nights a week. It is located in the basement of the hotel with the entrance adjacent. You’ll also find Buskers on the Ball, which is another lively, interactive sports bar. Here you’ll find Ping Pong tables (not ladies), Pool tables, Foosball and televised sporting events from around the world.
FACILITIES & SERVICE

A lot of people will joke that you don’t need air-conditioning in Ireland, but you’d be surprised! I would suggest you pay the surcharge for A/C if travelling in summer as it can be stiflingly hot.
It’s not often an Irish hotel offers free bottled water, an added bonus when staying at the Temple Bar Hotel. Of course, we can’t go anywhere without our devices and the hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi should you feel the need upload your latest pics.
The hotel does offer parking at approximately €18 per 24-hours. However, I’d suggest leaving car hire until after your stay here as you won’t need a car while exploring Dublin. This way you not only save on parking but also on the car rental.
THE VERDICT
Temple Bar area
As with every hotel in the Temple Bar area, it is surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs so it’s a great vibe! I’m so glad that I always travel with earplugs, which makes for a good nights sleep. It’s a fabulous hotel and I absolutely love being in the heart of Dublin and feeding off the energy. However, it’s not somewhere I’d put my granny.
