Air New Zealand really does have the best marketing and PR team in the aviation sector – I’m going to go ahead and say they’re almost as good as Beyonce’s marketing guys.

The team over at the Kiwi carrier has a knack for turning even the smallest of situations into a major promotional opportunity to drum up further brand awareness and potentially even land extra sales.

Just look at what they’ve done over the years with inflight safety videos or how they turned the All Blacks Rugby World Cup victory into an opportunity to promote the airline’s fun and cultural spirit.

But this latest initiative is just pure genius and so, so, so hilarious.

The team turned Qantas and American Airlines’ press conference about AA’s new flights to Australia into an advertisement about Air New Zealand’s quality services.

How?

Well, during the press conference, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce and AA CEO Doug Parker were asked about one of their biggest local competitors, Air New Zealand.

The pair offered positive responses and even complimented the Black and White carrier.

Seeing an opportunity to use those words against the two airlines, Air New Zealand’s social media team edited video footage and posted it to Twitter with the caption: “Aw-Shucks, Doug & Alan, you both made us blush… Happy to welcome you to the
