Get ready, Perth! All Nippon Airways returns to Western Australia for 2024

Japan’s largest carrier, All Nippon Airways (ANA), has revealed it will return to Western Australia on 28 October 2024.

Japan’s largest carrier, All Nippon Airways (ANA), has revealed it will return to Western Australia on 28 October 2024.

The seasonal service between Perth and Tokyo Narita was introduced in October 2023 and clearly proved fruitful enough to warrant its resumption later this year.

While ANA hoped to upgrade the route to a daily service, the Japanese carrier will again operate the service thrice weekly – on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Now open for bookings, ANA’s 2024/2025 Northern Winter flights for Perth will operate until 29 March next year.

Flight NH882 will depart Perth at 9.55pm and arrive in Tokyo Narita at 8.30am on the following day.

The return leg, NH881, will leave Tokyo at 11.20 am and touch down in WA at 8.30pm.

All Nippon Airways will fly its Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the route, offering Business, Premium Economy & Economy class cabins.

The airline will undoubtedly be buoyed by recent travel demand to Japan from Australia. Last week, JNTO figures revealed that Australian visitors to Japan rose by nearly 50 per cent over pre-pandemic numbers between January and March – from 172,896 in Q1 2019 to 252,900 in Q1 2024 – with Australia well on track for a record year of travel to the country.

All Nippon Airways (82.8 per cent) and Japan Airlines (82.6 per cent) finished as the top Asia-Pacific carriers for punctuality in 2023, according to aviation analytics company, Cirium.

ANA was also deemed one of the world’s safest airlines for 2024, one of the most family-friendly carriers, and the world’s cleanest airline last year.

Earlier this year, ANA and its general sales agent (GSA) in Australia, The Walshe Group, announced Michael Fletcher’s appointment to National Sales Manager.
