The carrier beat its biggest competitor, Qantas, plus dozens of other businesses to be named Australia’s Most Attractive Employer for the third consecutive year in the 2016 Ranstad Awards.

According to the HR company’s survey, some 51.34 percent of Aussies said they’d like to work with Virgin because of its working atmosphere, good work-life balance and strong management.

The Flying Kangaroo wasn’t hopping too far behind in second place with 51.3 percent – so close.

Surprisingly, Virgin topped Qantas despite the flag carrier being named second Best Known Company across Australia, behind McDonalds and ahead of Australia Post, Myer and Optus.

Rounding off the top five most desired workplaces were BAR Systems, Seven Network and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), while Flight Centre creeped into the top 20 with 37.52 percent.

Aviation as a whole was recognised as the number one Most Attractive sector in the country, followed FMCG, state and federal government and media.
