John Travolta has confirmed he’ll personally drop off his retired Boeing 707 aircraft to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) in Australia next year.

The actor confirmed his appearance via HARS boss, Bob De La Hunty, who said he and the aircraft would make a special appearance at the Illawarra Regional Airport.

Although the date of delivery is yet to be confirmed, it’s expected to arrive in Australia from the US some time towards the end of the year.

“We wouldn’t see it as being in our interest if we didn’t bring him with us, so it’s certainly the case.”

Bob De La Hunty, HARS President

De La Hunty continued, saying that he expects Travolta to stay in Australia for “quite some time” and believes he may be interesting in taking a ride in ‘Connie’, the society’s Super Constellation aircraft, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Travolta revealed plans in May this year to generously donate the vintage Boeing 708 aircraft to the Australian aircraft group.

At the time, he said the plane required “a lot of work” before it would be in a “safe flying state”.

“Having seen first hand the dedication and passion of people at HARS, I have no doubt this beautiful and historical aircraft will be flying again.”

Restoration of the Boeing 707 is estimated to cost over $1 million.
