Here in Australia we’ve enjoyed some pretty generous discounts to the United States all year long, and now we’ve got a fair few incentives to hop on over to Europe.

Across the Tasman, Flight Centre New Zealand made headlines overnight after unveiling fares to London that are so cheap, they’re the cheapest they’ve ever been.

Kiwis can book a return flight from Auckland to the British capital from $1,349 per person.

That’s not only the lowest offering New Zealand holidaymakers have received for London, but it’s also almost half of what fares were advertised four years ago, NZ Herald reported.

According to Flight Centre New Zealand General Manager of Product, Sean Berenson, increased capacity and heated competition paved the way for Air China to offer Kiwis such a low fare.

“The market is very competitive right now, which has been driven by increased competition on popular routes.”

“This has driven a frenzy of sales activity, which is great for the consumer while it lasts.

“It’s hard to know how long this ‘golden era’ of travel will continue so my advice would be for Kiwis to make the most of these record lows and travel far and wide while it’s so affordable and accessible.”

Air China’s $1,349 return flights through Flight Centre are for travel from Auckland to London via Beijing and are on sale from now until 18 September.

Qatar Airways also has low fares from New Zealand to London via Doha, which is the world’s longest flight, and is priced from $1,749 return.
