United Airlines has ramped up its services between Melbourne and Los Angeles to meet customer demand for more flights to the USA.

The announcement comes less than six months after the airline launched its inaugural flight to the Australian city.

Effective immediately, United will increase services from six times weekly to daily by adding a flight on Thursday from Melbourne and Tuesday from Los Angeles.

Flight UA99 will depart daily Melbourne Airport at 10.15am, arriving at Los Angeles International Airport at 6.50am the same day.

United Airlines to fly daily from Melbourne to Los Angeles.

The return flight, UA98, departs daily Los Angeles International Airport at 10.30pm, arriving at Melbourne at 8.15am two days later.

Flights will be operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which has 48 seats in first class; 88 in economy plus; and 116 in economy.

The aircraft has Wi-Fi onboard and USB ports and power outlets in all classes.

Managing Director, Alison Espley said the airline has experienced increased consumer demand since launching on the route in October and the new service will benefit those customers seeking non-stop flights to the Los Angeles.

“This Melbourne–Los Angeles daily service, along with our earlier timed direct services between Sydney–Los Angeles/San Francisco enables us to provide customers with faster connections and access to many popular destinations in North America, such as New York.”

United has served the Australian market for nearly 30 years, providing customers with more than 150 daily connections via its San Francisco or Los Angeles hubs, to over 90 destinations across the U.S.

In addition to non-stop services between Melbourne/Sydney and Los Angeles, United currently remains the only carrier to fly non-stop from Australia to San Francisco.
