Los Angeles lounge upgraded, Perth space renovated, work underway to improve the Brisbane lounge and plans are underway for new space in Heathrow.

With a few of Qantas’ main hubs taken care of, the Flying Kangaroo has turned its attention to regional gateways.

The carrier revealed plans today to open a new Regional Lounge at Western Australia’s Karratha Airport in early 2017.

The revamped experience will feature floor-to-ceiling windows for unobstructed views of the tarmac, local design influences as well as comfortable work and rest areas.

Located on the new upper level, it will be twice the size of the current lounge and will offer guests complimentary refreshments and beverages, high speed Wi-Fi and Foxtel.

QantasLink CEO John Gissing said it was an exciting time to invest in a new lounge experience with the Karratha Airport major upgrade project now complete.

“As the only airline to offer a lounge at Karratha Airport, this will be a great boost to both Pilbara region locals as well as the important Fly-in Fly-out market, offering more room to relax prior to their flight.”

John Gissing, QantasLink CEO

“Karratha is our largest port in the region so investing in a new lounge is a clear indication of our commitment to Karratha and the Pilbara.”

The Karratha lounge is open to Qantas Club members, customers travelling in Business, eligible Frequent Flyers and oneworld members. Qantas and QantasLink offer up to nine return flights per day between Perth to Karratha.

In addition to Qantas’ 12 Qantas Clubs located in major cities and towns across Australia, the airline also offers 12 Regional Lounges located in Broome, Coffs Harbour, Devonport, Emerald, Gladstone, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Launceston, Mackay, Port Hedland, Rockhampton and Tamworth.

Earlier this year, Qantas opened its lounges to guests outside of its loyalty program, with a new ‘day pass’ system that allows travellers to try its domestic and international spaces on their next trip.
