Unveiled this week, the new terminal has received a number of enhancements including new facilities for Business Class guests, an expanded domestic lounge as well as a new Espresso and Wine bar.

Business travellers will enjoy the airline’s new ‘Premium Entry’ experience, which enables kerbside direct entry into the lounge as well as the enhanced valet service which also has direct access to the lounge allowing seamless transition from car to terminal.

Other major improvements include additional aerobridges and expanded seating areas, giving more guests a place to wait and charge their devices in the numerous power and USB points.

For those that feel like taking a stroll before boarding, the terminal will also have 16 new retailers opening progressively from now until the end of the year. Among the big name retailers include Mecca Maxima, Peter Alexander and American burger chain Carl’s Jnr Char Grilled Burgers.

Branson said after experiencing the new facilities for himself he believes Australians passing through will have ‘one of the best domestic travel experiences in the world’.

“Brisbane and the broader Queensland market are an integral part of Virgin Australia’s flight network and today sets a new benchmark for all travellers at Brisbane.”

“Virgin Australia was the first and still is the only Australian airline to offer a full kerbside to lounge to gate experience and it is fantastic to see them bringing this innovative feature to Brisbane.”

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk added that the upgrade signified Virgin’s commitment to the Queensland market.

Virgin Australia worked closely with Brisbane Airport Corporation to invest in upgrading the terminal facilities, including creating more spacious, comfortable facilities at the gates, seven new aerobridges as well as 16 new retailers such as Peter Alexander and Mecca Maxima.

Designed by renowned architect Tim Greer from Tonkin Zulaikha Greer with inspiration from Hans Hulsbosch, the new 440 seat Virgin Australia Lounge has been designed to offer separate areas to work, rest and unwind. Centred on a new 55m2 Grand Skylight providing unrivalled natural light, the lounge encapsulates Virgin Australia’s contemporary look and feel including white marble bars and an Espresso and Wine Bar.
