The word Mississippi consists of a lot of letters but there’s a lot of reasons why the Viking Mississippi should be next on your client’s bucket list. Let’s spell it out together.
M – Mississippi
Forget the busy rivers of Europe, it’s time to head south to Mississippi to discover some of America’s best history and culture. Stretching from Minnesota’s Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico, Viking’s new river cruise is a cross country adventure for the curious traveller.
I – Introducing the Viking Mississippi
Viking’s first custom-built ship, the Viking Mississippi will debut in August 2022 and will sail through America’s heartland.
S – Small Ship experts
Famous for being the world’s leading small ship experts, Viking endeavors to bring guests closer to their destination with large, expansive windows and the ability to dock in the heart of small towns.
S- Ship Design
The Viking Mississippi is a state-of-the-art ship inspired by Viking’s award-winning Longships. Featuring Scandinavian design with expansive windows and comfortable amenities, the ship’s cutting-edge design has been reimagined for the Mississippi River.
I – Inclusive
Inclusivity is key to the Viking difference. Every Mississippi River cruise fare covers everything guests need with no surprise fees at the end of their cruise. We’re talking a complimentary shore excursion in each port of call, all onboard meals, port taxes and gratuities, 24-hour room service, Wi-Fi, beer and wine with lunch and dinner service, and self-service launderettes.
S – Shore excursions
Speaking of shore excursions, want to know what’s on offer? How about a guided tour of New Orleans, including the legendary French Quarter? Or visiting Mark Twain’s hometown Hannibal? Perhaps paying respect to the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll in Memphis?
S – Staterooms
Let’s talk staterooms. The Viking Mississippi hosts 386 guests in 193 all-outside staterooms. Guests can choose from seven spacious stateroom categories that range from 268 square feet to 1,024 square feet.
I – Inaugural voyages
The inaugural Mississippi River voyages currently include five incredible itineraries. There are four 8-day voyages (including a Christmas cruise) and the most popular option, the 15-day America’s Great River. This voyage cruises from New Orleans to St Paul and takes guests nearly the entire length of the Mississippi. Travellers can retrace the steps of Civil Rights leaders in Memphis, enjoy the southern charm of Natchez and ascend the Gateway Arch in St Louis.
P – (Un)paralleled dining experiences
Destination-focused dining is a Viking specialty and the Viking Mississippi has taken it to the next level. The Aquavit Terrace is a revolutionary indoor/outdoor viewing area perfect for the American barbeque experience. Alternatively, guests can dine at the River Cafe and sample American classics. Both options provide an unprecedented al-fresco dining experience on the Mississippi.
P – Perfect for
Viking is known for being the Thinking Person’s Cruise and each voyage has been created for the curious, experienced traveller. The Viking Mississippi is ideal for those well-travelled clients looking for something new.
I – Infinity Plunge Pool
Did we mention, the Viking Mississippi has a glass-backed pool experience at the aft, allowing guests to take a dip while entirely surrounded by their destination?
