Princess Cruises has bumped P&O Cruises from the top spot in this year’s Cruise Passenger Readers’ Choice Awards, to win ‘Best Ocean Cruise Line Overall’.

The win comes as the cruise line continues to invest in the local market with new ships as well as innovative onboard offerings such as its new Curtis Stone partnership plus its expanding ‘Chocolate Journeys’ featuring treats created by Master Chocolatier, Norman Love.

Needless to say with an entire menu of sweets dedicated to chocolate lovers, the cruise line also took out the title of ‘Best Premium Cruise Line’, ‘Best Cruise Line for Food’, ‘Best for Wellness/Spa’ and ‘Best for Onboard Entertainment’.

Princess Cruises’ Vice President Australia and New Zealand, Stuart Allison, said the results were fantastic and demonstrated the line’s commitment to guests.

“[We’re] helping our guests ‘come back new’ through onboard dining, wellness and entertainment experiences across out fleet.”

Meanwhile, when it comes to luxury Aussies have a definite love affair with Silversea Cruises, which specialises in white-gloved service, quality dining and elegant entertainment.

In the mid-range cruise line department, Royal Caribbean was named the best for its technologically advanced vessels featuring never-ending entertainment options, while competitor, P&O Cruises took out the title ‘Best for First Timers’.

APT walked away with two major wins in both its specialising areas – river cruising and adventure. The operator was named ‘Best Adventure Cruise Line’ for offering travellers immersive experiences in intimate ships and ‘Best River Cruise Line Overall’ for its vessels which feature celebrity chef dining experiences and all-inclusive tours.

APT’s Executive General Manager of Global Sales and Marketing, Debra Fox, said winning the awards demonstrated the line’s emergence as an Aussie favourite.

“We are delighted to receive these two awards, especially given they are voted on by the people who are well versed in both the cruise industry and the APT product, readers of Cruise Passenger magazine and our valued guests.”

Disney Cruises

When it comes to luxury river cruising, Aussies say they fancy a bit of Scenic, which was named ‘Best Luxury River Cruise Line’.

Families are still obsessed with Mickey and the crew, because Disney managed to take out ‘Best for Families’ for the second consecutive year.
