Greek Islands and beyond specialist cruise line Celestyal Cruises has acquired a second vessel, Celestyal Discovery, following the recent arrival of Celestyal Journey, with both ships set to sail in March 2024.

The news heralds a fleet refresh for Celestyal with both ships to undergo multi-million-dollar winter refurbs in Athens before the new season.

Celestyal’s newest ship will be on sale from 11 December 2023, taking over the Celestyal Olympia’s 2024 program.

Built for the Carnival Corporation in 2003, Celestyal Discovery previously sailed under the AIDA Cruise brand.

The 1,266-guest midsize vessel has 633 staterooms, including 62 with balconies, allowing Celestyal to offer its signature blend of marquee and secluded destinations.

Celestyal Discovery will incorporate favourite features of the fleet, such as an Amphitheatre conference and event space, lounges, Grillseekers speciality restaurant, a Sozo wellness retreat, a pool deck with an exclusive Rays deck, a Greek Deli and a Fig & Honey gelato and juice bar.

Surprise additions will also be included during her imminent refurbishment in Greece.

Celestyal Cruises CEO Chris Theophilides said: “Given strong market and business conditions, we are thrilled to have expedited the renewal of our fleet to welcome the Celestyal Discovery into the family.”

“As a confident challenger brand, our team is excited to continue to make waves across the industry next season with a refreshed fleet, brand, network and a renewed sense of direction.”
