Scenic held its glamorous Night of Stars awards at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Saturday to recognise the hard work and commitment from its top Travel Advisors.

The black tie event, hosted by Catriona Rowntree and David Whitehill, attracted over 240 guests who were entertained by a New York Jazz Band and a cabaret and a vintage circus-inspired finale.

Those attending were given an exclusive sneak peek at Scenic Eclipse, the world’s first discovery yacht which was due for delivery last August.

Acting Executive General Manager Justin Brown told guests that while the build was progressing well with interior and exterior completion on schedule the, situation with Ulanik shipyard’s financial challenges remained.

“It has had an ongoing impact on their part of the ships systems commissioning works,” he explained.

“Their workers are owed wages and this has resuled in 14 weeks of lost time due to strike action and other disruptions.”

With many workers leaving the ship yard, Scenic set up its own workforce which now directly employs over 100 specialists workers to assist in completing the ship.

“Despite the shipyards challenges the quality of workmanship is exceptional,” he said.

The two helicopters have been delivered and the submarine took its first test dive in December. Another update will be given to the industry next month.

Now to the awards.
