Oh hey, in case you missed the Today Show live broadcast, the dozens of articles and hundreds of social media posts – Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas is in Sydney.
The vessel arrived early yesterday morning, a year-and-a-half after the cruise line first announced the third Quantum-class ship for Australia.
Some 5,000 passengers were on the monster cruise ship when she sailed in, and despite the rainy weather, most cruisers were keen to see inside the Opera House, take pictures of the iconic Harbour Bridge and inject over $3.3 million in passenger spend.
Meanwhile, Agents and media were equally as excited to get on the ship and get a squiz at Ovation.
KarryOn was among the few who were invited onboard for a special welcome party and although the tour was short, we managed to spot some very cool things a long the way. Here’s what we found:
Keep forgetting what day it is? No worries, elevators moonlight as calendars
And if you’re ever feeling lost, just turn to these touchscreen maps, generally located near elevators
The technology on board is truly insane, like the Bionic Bar with bartender robots
Although we imagine everyone knows about this one by now.
And these dancing robots backed by a 270-degree 3D screen
Plus there was this arm-wrist band, which was used as a light show for us but is actually used around the ship to access rooms
We saw some amazing acrobats
And we checked out the SeaPlex, which transforms from roller rink to basketball court to an acrobatic learning space
We saw some dodgem cars, which are also used in the SeaPlex
And came across this adults-only pool behind the Solarium
We tried some of the food onboard
And admired the many pieces of art
