Silversea has revealed new details of Silver Origin, the luxury cruise line’s first-ever destination-specific ship designed specifically to “unlock deep travel experiences” in the incredible Galapagos Islands from winter 2020.
The 100-passenger, all-suite ship will offer unique onshore experiences led by Silversea’s Expedition Team, who are certified by the National Park of the Galapagos.
It will be “one of the most environmentally friendly cruise ships ever built”, thanks to state-of-the-art technology designed specifically for sailing the Galapagos Islands.
Silversea’s CEO Roberto Martinoli said, “ever since the early planning phases, every decision on Silver Origin has been made to strengthen the connection between our guests and this spectacular, unique destination.”
Guests will be able to enjoy Ecuadorian culture on board through daily briefings, lectures, videos, and scientific information and authentic local cuisine, prepared by expert Ecuadorian chefs.
The luxury interior design of Silver Origin is said to be inspired by the “understated Italian elegance” along with inspiration from the Galapagos’ unique natural environment.
Basecamp, an elegant lounge where guests can socialise before and after excursions, is described as “one Silver Origin’s most innovative spaces”.
It will feature a large, interactive digital wall where guests will be able to access destination-related content, including pictures, videos, excursion previews and scientific presentations.
Meanwhile, Silver Origin’s Explorer Lounge will host daily briefings and lectures from the ship’s Expedition Team while doubling as a sophisticated space with a bar and piano.
The front of the ship will be home to an Observation Lounge, an ideal place for guests to relax with a book from the library featuring “the most extensive destination-focused collection the cruise line has ever had on one ship”.
Silver Origin will offer eight different suite categories. The Owner’s Suite promises “unprecedented views” of the destination while guests in every suite will enjoy the use of a private balcony.
In a first for Silversea, selected suite categories will incorporate an ocean-view bathtub, as well as an ocean-view shower.
Silver Origin’s two dining venues: The Restaurant and The Grill will offer “authentic flavours; fresh, local ingredients; and regional wines”.
Silver Origin will see the highest crew-to-guest ratio (1:1.16) and the highest ratio of qualified guides per guest (1:10) in the Galapagos Islands.
