Cruising is back with ocean cruising as popular as ever - Viking Cruises

Viking recently surveyed travel advisors on their cruise enquiries and found that Australians are getting ready to cruise again in high numbers.

Viking’s travel advisor survey results showed that 24 per cent had received ‘more than normal’ number of requests, while more than half reported a ‘small amount’ of increased enquiries versus recent months.

When it came to the style of cruising, 78 per cent of respondents preferred ocean, followed by river, and then expedition.

Voyages closer to home were also of interest, with nearly 60 per cent mentioning Australia & New Zealand as their clients’ preferred destination for their return to travel.

Michelle Black, Viking ANZ Managing Director, said that demand for ocean cruising and cruising closer to home comes as no surprise.

“Our unique style of small-ship cruising, with no kids and no casinos resonates with the culturally curious traveller”.

“And we are so excited to have two Viking ships in local waters this year to satisfy the demand for Australia and New Zealand cruising,” she said.

To thank agents for completing the survey, all respondents went into a draw to win one of three $50 Visa gift cards.

Linda Forster, TravLin Travel; Jacqui Donoghue, House of Travel Havelock North and Shirley Taylor, Taylor Made Travel were the winners.
