Agents rejoice - Abu Dhabi famils are coming

If you haven't already experienced the traditional meets modern culture and lifestyle of Abu Dhabi then you may want to try and secure a spot on the city's first trade famils for the Australian market.

If you haven’t already experienced the traditional meets modern culture and lifestyle of Abu Dhabi then you may want to try and secure a spot on the city’s first trade famils for the Australian market.

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has teamed up with Etihad Airways and Virgin Australia to run the inaugural trips, with the first planned for September this year and a second next year.

Fifty high achievers from an Australia-wide incentive programme by Etihad and Virgin will be invited on each of the trips.

The first, departing on 15 September, will see agents journey through the emirate on one of three familiarisation itineraries before converging on Yas Island for a spectacular Arabian farewell.

According to Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority Country Manager Michael Woods, the famils are the bureau’s means of showcasing the importance of trade.

“Providing these agents with the opportunity to experience captivating culture, breath-taking luxury and the warmth of Arabian hospitality will allow them to more confidently sell Abu Dhabi to their clients.”

“By partnering with Etihad and Virgin Australia, we’re certain these agents will be provided the trip of a lifetime and be even more inspired to promote our Emirate.”

Earlier this month, TCA Abu Dhabi revealed guest arrivals between January and April increased by 20 percent compared to the previous year.

Around 1.37 million people stayed in the emirate’s 161 hotels and hotel apartment, delivering 3.89 million guest nights – an increase of 11 percent on the same period 2014.

Growth comes off the back of major advertising campaigns as well as the city’s big Hollywood feature in the latest ‘Fast & Furious 7‘ movie.

“With arrivals on the rise and an increase in air capacity by Etihad Airways and Virgin Australia who now fly between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth direct to Abu Dhabi daily there is no better time for TCA Abu Dhabi to increase its presence in Australia.”
