The Islands of Tahiti continues to beckon Aussie travellers with forward flight bookings up 8.8 per cent from January to June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

That’s off the back of a 73 per cent increase in arrivals last year against 2022 figures, making Australia the fifth-largest tourism source market for the South Pacific destination in 2023.

As a bucket-list location, it’s not surprising that the Islands of Tahiti experienced an impressive increase in international visitors in 2023 and enjoys a positive outlook on bookings for the first half of 2024, buoyed by Aussie travellers.

In 2023, 7,718 Aussies visited the Islands of Tahiti compared to 4,468 Australian travellers in 2022.

Aussie tourists accounted for 2.9 per cent of market share for tourist arrivals in 2023 in fifth place after the US, France, Canada and New Zealand.

So far this year, Australian arrivals to Tahiti have a 2.1 per cent market share after the US, France, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.

As these bookings cover only half the year and as the post-pandemic recovery continues, Tahiti Tourisme anticipates a positive year-on-year increase in overall Australian visitors, sustaining this growth in 2024.
