Silversea celebrates float-out of second Nova Class ship Silver Ray

Silversea marked the milestone float-out ceremony for its latest ultra-luxury Nova Class ship, Silver Ray, in Germany on 28 February as its sixth new ship in three years nears completion ahead of her scheduled debut in the Mediterranean in June 2024.

Silversea marked the milestone float-out ceremony for its latest ultra-luxury Nova Class ship, Silver Ray, in Germany on 28 February as its sixth new ship in three years nears completion ahead of her scheduled debut in the Mediterranean in June 2024.

Observing shipbuilding traditions, Silver Ray‘s Captain Alessandro Zanello welded a newly minted, commemorative coin to a pool deck wall for good luck as the uber-luxe ship enters the docking-out phase.

Silver Ray will be conveyed approximately 32km down the Ems River to the North Sea ahead of her sea trials – a unique journey due to the narrow waterway.

She is scheduled to enter service in June 2024, spending her inaugural season in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic in December.

Silversea President Barbara Muckermann said excitement is building for the cruise line’s second Nova Class ship debut after Silver Nova launched in August 2023 to positive feedback from guests, travel advisors and media.

“Sustaining the wave of innovation that is driving our success, the launch of Silver Ray will strengthen Royal Caribbean Group’s unwavering commitment to delivering a lifetime of vacations for guests,” she said.

With pioneering energy efficiency standards, Silver Nova and Silver Ray are 40 per cent more energy efficient than the required international protocol and regulations.

On board, guests will enjoy the cruise line’s signature luxury, including all-new venues and suite options, new Otium wellness experiences and amenities and the introduction of the S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table to the S.A.L.T. culinary program.

Both ships incorporate innovative design features, including around 4,000sqm of exterior glass for deeper immersion into the destination.
