Six months after China removed the last of its travel restrictions around COVID-19, one of the leading operators of tours to China, Wendy Wu Tours, is gearing ups for its big return to the country.
In May, Wendy Wu Tours revealed to Karryon that it would be returning to China with its China Experience tour departing on 6 August 2023.
With its return now less than two weeks away, the company is reporting “a steady increase in bookings and high enquiry levels for the destination”.

Wendy Wu Tours managing director Australia, Simon Bell told Karryon that China is currently the operator’s second most popular destination in terms of bookings “and is in fact exceeding sales expectations across all markets, including Australia”.
“This is highly encouraging news and suggests that there is definitely pent-up demand for the destination,” he said.
Not content with simply bringing travellers back to the country though, Wendy Wu has added some extra oomph to its China offering, which it says will simplify the overall process of visiting the Asian nation.
“Travellers are keen to resume travel and explore China again after what has been an extended pause, and Wendy Wu is taking extra measures to ensure we make the experience and re-entry to the market as seamless as possible – for agents and holidaymakers alike,” Bell remarked.
To this end, one of China’s most experienced tour operators says it will “simplify the visa process” by offering a dedicated visa processing service for travellers.
“We’ll hold our customers’ hand through the application process from start to finish, with the turnaround time from application to visa arrival now down to just a few weeks across most departure points in Australia,” Bell explained.
What’s hot?
Currently, longer, “bucket list-style” trips such as Wendy Wu’s 26-day Grand Tour of China and 28-day Silk Road Explorer are proving particularly popular with the Australian market.
But with increased demand and interest for travel to China, the company is putting the call out to trade partners interested in collaborating on cooperative marketing activities.
