NCL onboards SpaceX Starlink high-speed internet for entire fleet

Norwegian Cruise Holdings Ltd is the latest cruise company to roll out SpaceX’s Starlink high-speed internet across its entire fleet – NCL, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises – and improve connectivity at sea for guests and crew.

Currently trialling the Starlink high-speed internet on Norwegian Breakaway, NCL will introduce the game-changing technology across its entire fleet in phases.

Using advanced low earth orbit satellites, Starlink delivers industry-leading broadband connectivity, improving the capacity, speed and reliability of the internet at sea.

If trials are successful, NCL will equip seven additional vessels with Starlink by the end of 2023, including its three new additions: Oceania Cruises’ Vista, Norwegian Viva and Regent’s Seven Seas Grandeur.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd President & CEO Harry Sommer said: “We are thrilled to offer Starlink on board our ships to improve internet connectivity at sea.”

“Once deployed, guests and crew will have a faster and more reliable method to stay connected with friends and family including sharing real-time memories at sea.”

In addition, the extra bandwidth will allow more flexibility for onboard services and improve the ship-to-shore connection for operational needs.

SpaceX’s Starlink broadband service has already rolled out across the Royal Caribbean Group, Carnival Cruise Line and Hurtigruten Expeditions fleets.
